About Matt Short

Golf improvement shouldn’t feel confusing or inconsistent.

Matt works with golfers of all skill levels to simplify the game and help their practice translate into real performance on the course. His coaching focuses on building a repeatable swing, improving consistency, and helping players develop confidence where it matters most.

Experience & Approach

Matt brings a strong background in golf and a passion for helping players improve in a way that actually sticks.

Matt has eighteen years of experience (and counting) playing professional golf across a variety of tours, including various mini-tours, PGA Tour Americas, PGA Tour Canada, Korn Ferry Tour, and PGA Tour.

Drawing from years of applied competitive experience, Matt’s coaching style is clear, practical, patient, and tailored to each individual—whether you’re picking up a club for the first time or looking to refine your game.

He works with:

  • Beginner golfers building fundamentals

  • Intermediate players seeking consistency

  • Competitive players looking to lower scores

A Better Swing Is Only Part of the Game

Many golfers spend hours on the range but struggle to take that progress onto the course.

Matt’s approach is different. Each lesson is designed with real play in mind—focusing not just on swing mechanics, but on ball flight, decision-making, and consistency under pressure. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s performance you can rely on.

What It’s Like to Work With Matt

Simple. Focused. Effective.

Lessons are personalized to your goals and your swing—no one-size-fits-all instruction. Matt breaks down the game in a way that’s easy to understand, giving you clear adjustments and drills you can take with you.

You’ll leave each session with:

  • A clear focus

  • Practical drills

  • A better understanding of your swing

  • Confidence heading onto the course

Where the Work Happens

Our sessions will take place at Mimosa Hills Golf Club in Morganton, NC, which is a private, full-service club featuring a historic 1929 Donald Ross-designed golf course with Blue Ridge Mountain Views, known for its classic layout and challenging, tree-lined fairways. Additionally, it has a full practice facility with driving range, short-game area (chipping, pitching, and bunker) and two practice putting areas.
